2023 IRHA Futurity presented by DeNiroBootCo: In Foal Partners Italian Championship FISE/IRHA Open – Intermediate Open – Limited Open Finals

Cremona, November 16 — Thursday action in Cremona included the In Foal Partners Italian Championship FISE/IRHA $10.700-added Open, $5.885-added Intermediate Open, $500-added Limited Open Finals and the $1.070-added NRHA Open ancillary class which opened the day.

Winning the In Foal Partners FISE/IRHA Italian Open Championship with a 219.5  was Francesco Barbagli (Lombardy) riding Shinin Moonstone (Spark N Whiz x AR Lucky Wrangler), a 6-year-old gelding owned by Debora Daprati. “I had never won this title and frankly I did not think I could win it this time around since the level of competition is pretty high,” he shared. “I showed him all year in the regional qualifier and as the show season progressed, I began to think that maybe we could do it and we did! He is an amazing horse: The more he shows, the better he becomes and I am over-happy with this result.”

Sliding to the second step of the podium with a 218 was Luca Piccolo (Campania) riding Spooknic Smokin (Nu Spooky Chex x Leavem Smokin), a 5-year-old stallion owned by  Caracciolo/Lukacs. Third place honors, with a 213.5 score, went to Giovanni Masi de Vargas (Tuscany) with Flame Boy Smile (Skeets Flamin x Spanish Lady Luz), a 6-year-old stallion owned by Seahorse Srl.

Nicola Brunelli (Lombardy) and Big Red Gun (One Gun x ES Sweet Little Star), a 10-year-old gelding owned by Francesca Belladonna, took the FISE/IRHA Intermediate Open Championship with a winning score of 214.5. “At the beginning of the year I started showing this horse in schooling classes for his owner who was trying to qualify him in the Green Reiner Championship. As the season moved on, he  kept on getting better and by the end of the qualifying shows he was on the top of the rankings. Today in the show arena he did really well and winning this title was wonderful for all of us.”

Serena Bertelli (Lombardy) with Mini Cilindro PC (Doc Classic Sire x Senorita Custom), a 7-year-old stallion owned by Soc. Agr. Pietracavalla, closed with a un 213.5 and second place honors. Closing the podium with a 211.5 were Lorenzo Drauli (Tuscany) and his own 7-year-old stallion Boom Bay Mountain (Smart Whiz Delmaso x Boomax RM).

The latter also won the FISE/IRHA Limited Open where, with a 211 score Lorenzo Nurzia (Lazio) and the 4-year-old stallion owned by Sofia Gilardi, Lenas Okie Gun (Lenas Drawin His Gun x Viola Dun It Sugar) were second. Mauro Vittorelli (Lombardy) and Call Me Spook (Smart Spook x Miss Tori Snap), an 8-year-old mare owned by Carola Toia, posted a 209.5 earning the third place. “I am really happy for this result that I have been running after all year,” said the Limited Open Champion. “He’s a really good horse that I have had for the past year and a half. The regional Championship went very well with my horse doing better and better at each show in order to qualify here so this is the cherry on the cake.”

Run class-in-class with the Italian Open Championship, the NRHA Open ancillary class closed with a three-way-tie for first place as each of the following scored a 213.5: Serena Bertelli and Mini Cilindro PC, Federico Del Zoppo with Shine Gun N Rose (Shine Chic Shine x Miss Gun N Rose) owned by Domenico Giannitti and Giovanni Masi de Vargas with Flame Boy Smile (Skeets Flamin x Spanish Lady Luz) owned by Seahorse Srl.
